   ST's STNRG012. This device integrates a multimode power factor correction (PFC) controller, resonant half-bridge controller, 800V start-up circuit, and a digital engine that manages these three modules. The PFC controller can dynamically switch between transition mode, discontinuous current mode (DCM), and valley jumping for optimum energy efficiency. The half-bridge controller implements ST's patented Time Shift Control (TSC) technology for precise soft-switching operation.

    The STNRG012 is available now in a 20-pin Small Outline (SO-20) package.the maximum input voltage of STNRG012 is 305VAC, and it also supports DC working power supply. The target application is the product equipment with two power supply modes of battery and mains up to 300W.

      The digital engine runs on an 8-bit microprocessor core and is responsible for executing optimized control algorithms. The algorithm manages the PFC and half-bridge circuits through an event-driven high-speed state machine (SMED) peripheral. Additional dedicated hardware IP blocks, including a power manager and burst mode engine, ensure stable operation of the power control chip in idle mode and minimize power consumption. The chip has built-in system safety functions, including half-bridge surge protection and anti-capacitance protection. The safety protection functions are implemented in hardware. Therefore, the safety protection starts quickly and has excellent reliability.

    The STNRG012 stores operating parameters and calibration coefficients in on-chip non-volatile memory (NVM), allowing users to customize parameter settings and write software code into the chip during production. The digital programming method also saves external components previously required to configure the controller, reducing bill of materials cost and circuit size. The UART monitoring communication port simplifies the detection process and enables real-time monitoring for improved reliability.
