The ATL431 and ATL432 from Texas Instruments are three-terminal adjustable shunt regulators with specified thermal stability over applicable automotive, commercial, and industrial temperature ranges. The output voltage can be set to any value between Vref (about 2.5V) and 36V through two external resistors. The typical output impedance of the device is 0.05ohm. Active output circuits provide very sharp conduction characteristics, making these devices ideal replacements for Zener diodes in many applications, such as on-board voltage regulators, adjustable power supplies, and switching power supplies. ATL43x has> Cathodic current range increased 20 times compared to TL43x. It also has a stable load capacitance type and value range. ATL431 and ATL432 are "identical parts," but the pinouts and order numbers are different. The ATL43x is available in two grades, with initial tolerances (at 25C) of grades B and A of 0.5% and 1%, respectively. In addition, the low output drift vs. temperature ensures good stability over the entire temperature range. The company states that the ATL43xxI devices operate over the -40C to 85C temperature range, while the ATL43xxQ devices operate over the -40C to 125C temperature range.
